That was fast.

I've done my first read-through of Watchmen now; I want to reread it, but on the whole I'd say that I enjoyed it and I really can't imagine how they're going to make a movie of it.

The husband glanced over it as well, said that it didn't really seem all that special compared with other comics. I suspect that it was different from most of what was out there in 1985, but I think he's also right--modern comics are on the whole of better quality.

Hmmm ... Not sure what I would think of Watchmen if I were able to read it for the first time now. Considering its influence over the entire comic book industry (and all the imitators that have sprung up), I'd probably wonder what the big deal was.

I just read Velveteen Rabbit for the very first time last night. It made me cry, darn it!

I read Watchmen for the first time a year and a half ago, and I loved it. It's definitely a lot better than most of the comics out now (not because comics these days is any worse than it was in the '80s;Watchmen was better than most of the stuff out then, too). There's so much stuff packed into every page, and it has a very high readability. I hated more than half the characters, though.
